Kim Nguyen is a sophomore at the University of South Florida. Kim is currently double majoring in sociology and arts. Some of her interests include photography, film and traveling. She spent the past summer in Viet Nam working on the production of a documentary.

Construction

Jeff, a costruction worker for R.R. Simmons Construction Company, pours some concrete into a wagon cart. R.R. Simmons is building new baseball and softball court facilities for the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Campus News

The Office of Multicultural Affairs hosted the Holiday Remix at the Marshall Student Center Amphitheater. The event brought together many students from different cultural backgrounds to learn more about the different holiday practices and celebrations from around the world.

City News

Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 - In something taken out of a Willy Wonka movie, fifty lucky families got a sneak peak of the facilities of the Glazer Children's Museum and other treats during the Golden Ticket day. Admission to the event was restricted only to those families with the special ticket. The museum, which is set to open to the general public on Sept. 26, aims to educate children about our world though games and other fun activities.

Public Meeting

Jean-Pierre Emond, dean of the College of Technology and Innovation at USF Polytechnic, looks on as a "candidate" is being interviewed for the seat of Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. The gathering, which took place at the Tampa Airport Marriott, was part of a first round interview preliminary process. Even though the event was open to the public, the USF Polytechnic staff tried to maintain the candidate's identity anonymous.

Amanda Rowe, a graduate student from the University of South Florida, does warm up exercises prior to Aikido class. Amanda is a member of the USF Aikido club. The club meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays and has beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The martial art of Aikido is known for its concept of employing self-defense techniques using the attacker's own energy and momentum.

A barracuda is caught at Anna Maria Island's City Pier in Bradenton, Fla. The fish remained aggressive after being taken out of the water which required an extra clubbing. It was going to be used as bait, hopefully to catch bigger and edible fish. Fishing is a local past time of the beach community at Anna Maria.

Another day of construction wraps for the University of South Florida's Interdisciplinary Science Teaching and Research Facility. The project, estimated at more than $90 million, is being funded entirely by the Philadelphia-based PECO Energy. Missouri-based Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum Inc (HOK) won the architectural bid for this project. Skanska USA Building Inc is handling all of the construction duties. The new facility is set to fully functioning by the 2011 Fall semester. It will provide USF students with state of the laboratories for the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics.
